Letter from Pastor Colson

June 17, 2008

To the Clerk of Session:

On May 17, 2008, I turned 65 and after considering this milestone for several months leading up to it, I have decided to pursue retirement. Consequently, by this letter, I am submitting my resignation as Pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church effective November 30, 2008. Furthermore, I request that I be granted my five weeks of vacation for 2008 and three weeks of my remaining accumulated study leave time: these eight weeks to begin October 1, 2008. Thus my last Sunday would be on September 28, 2008.

This decision was made after much prayer and reflection about the direction my ministry needs to take at this point in my life. I have felt tremendous satisfaction in being pastor for Faith Church and believe that God has blessed the time we’ve shared together.

We can take pride in many things that we have accomplished together over these seventeen years. I have enjoyed the many associations and relationships with you that my ministry has given. It is difficult to think about how these need to change. So this has not been an easy decision to make.

For the immediate future, Patty and I will continue to live at 940 Little Lehigh Drive. We are making travel plans to visit art museums in Europe that we have not visited, but this October to visit Hawaii. And while not your pastor, still we hope to see you all around town.

Peace,

Charles E. Colson
