Kenya Partnership

In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:4. Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1

Faith Presbyterian Church has been engaged in a church to church partnership with the Riamukurwe Parish of the Nyeri Presbytery in central Kenya since 1998. Since the time of commitment, Faith and Riamukurwe have exchanged visits during 1998, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2010, 2013 and most recently this past summer 2014. Jacqueline Decker, a Faith youth member, participated in an internship through Westminster College where she compared cultural norms, church organization, mission, and polity between both congregations. This endeavor launched the partnership into new and innovative territory where comparisons can be made between Presbyterianism many miles apart.

Being in partnership throughout the past decade has taught both congregations the value of being in personal dialog concerning discipleship in the 21st Century. Partners live together in homes, worship together, engage in Bible study and prayer, and walk the communities hand in hand discerning missional practices. Faith Church has joined Riamukurwe in their ministry to destitute children by supporting two homes. They support students in post secondary education and have a vision to support a new vocational technical school. One unique practice this partnership has maintained is the “Joint Worship” service. Both congregations share worship together in actual time through SKYPE.

At this time, we can continue to show our love for our Kenyan friends by helping them complete the new Vo-tech School. Please consider being a part of this vital ministry by prayerfully considering a donation. We can make a difference. To make a donation, please indicate “Kenya Partnership Support 7330” in the memo line.  Questions can be directed to Jack Decker, or visit Learn for Life Kenya for more information.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray for the children in both Tumaini and Huruma children’s homes.
  • Pray for the completed construction of the new vocational technical school.
  • Pray for eight congregations that make up the Riamukurwe Parish.
  • Pray for Peace in the country of Kenya.

Don’t pretend to love one another. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Cling tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection – and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Romans 12: 9-11 (NTL)
